What do you need to bring to your senior portrait session?
Your senior portrait session is just around the corner! With your date, time, and location all set, it's now time to think about what to bring to ensure everything goes smoothly. All of my clients get a style guide packed with helpful information, including a list of suggested items to bring on the day of their senior portrait session. The following are my top 5 basics:
1. Multiple Outfits
Bringing a variety of outfits will give you a range of looks for your photos. Aim for at least three different outfits. The following are just a few of the categories you can choose from.
Casual Outfit: Something comfortable and relaxed that reflects your everyday style.
Dressy: A slightly dressier option for more polished photos.
Personal Favorite: An outfit that you love and feel great in, whether it’s a trendy piece or something that shows off your personality.
School Related: can include your favorite school spirit wear, like a letterman jacket or a hoodie with your school’s logo. Pair it with jeans or a skirt for a casual yet spirited look. Adding accessories like a school-themed cap or pom-poms can showcase your pride and connection to your high school.
Remember to iron your clothes and transport them carefully to avoid wrinkles.
2. Accessories
Accessories can add a personal touch to your photos. Consider bringing:
Jewelry: Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, or rings that complement your outfits.
Props: Items that showcase your hobbies or interests, like a musical instrument, sports equipment, or books.
Shoes: Different pairs of shoes to match each outfit, including casual sneakers, formal shoes, and any other favorite pairs.
3. Touch-Up Kit
A small kit for touch-ups can be a lifesaver during your session. Include:
Makeup: Foundation, powder, lipstick, and any other essentials to freshen up your look.
Hair Products: A brush, comb, hair spray, or gel to keep your hair looking great.
Other Essentials: Tissues, blotting papers, and a small mirror for quick checks and fixes.
4. Water and Snacks
Staying hydrated and energized is important, especially if your session will last a few hours. Bring a bottle of water and some light snacks like granola bars, fruit, or nuts. This will help keep you feeling your best throughout the shoot.
5. Positive Attitude and Confidence
Last but certainly not least, bring a positive attitude and your confidence. Feeling good about yourself and staying relaxed will shine through in your photos. Trust your photographer, enjoy the moment, and have fun with the experience.
